Unhappy

When the car is hot & you rev it hard as the revs drop down it stalls! so when you come to junctions etc it cuts out! I have put a new maf sensor on it & a new lambda too . it was a bit better for 30 miles or so then it just reverted to its old tricks again. please can someone shed some light on this as i am pi$$ed of with it now after spending £300 quid on it . The car is a sti type r version 5 .

Its probably already been suggested but have you checked the ISCV. The rotary flap in the valve has hardly any clearance to the casting and a small amount of grit etc can jam it. Give it a good dose of brake cleaner to flush it out followed by WD40.

Easiest way m8 is check all pipes that go into your std filter for splits, that they are on etc.
I have same problem with mine one of the air pipes popped out and it kept stalling.

Question

I have the exact same problem at the moment. It was suggested to me that it was most likely sparkplugs/coils...

Do you get the odd miss when revving it hard? If so sound like identical symptoms to mine.

I don't yet know if this will sort it as I won't find out until next weekend when I get the plugs changed as part of my service.

If you haven't sorted it by then will let you know if it works.

sounds very much like the idle control valve on top of the plenum/intake entry if this is sticking as mine seemed to be..on inspection it was very stiff and bob rawle cleaned and put wd40 on it..seems to have almost cured it only occasional prob now

The service got rid of the miss (coil pack gone up the swany)but the drop to almost stall is still there. After a bit of phoning around I have been informed that this is a common occurance of bailey dumo valves on the older model cars (DV on hot side of IC) ie they get too hot piston does not close properly. Will be replacing this at the weekend to see if this works.
