All Scooby owners, I have just bought my first Scooby a few weeks ago and when the engine is cold it makes a very clunky noise in the engine. It is only there first thing when the engine is cold and when it gets warm it dissapears.

Can someone tell me if this should be happening, why this is happening and if I should stop pulling my hair out or not.

Stu

What MY is it? Sounds like it could be piston slap, my MY97 car has it. There are loads of threads about this, type 'piston slap' into search. If it's not to severe and dissapears when warm it's not really a problem AFAIK, just an annoying noise every morning. Somebody will probably come here and say the engine is about to desintegrate now..........

Probably not piston slap then, I may be wrong but I've only heard of 97-98 turbos having piston slap, never heard of a sport with the problem.
