Very annoying squeal on 4 pot caliper.

I fitted a set of scoob 4 pots to my Legacy about 6-7 months ago and now the offside one is emitting a terrible squeal after 5-6 miles of general 'in-traffic' driving, if I remove then refit the pads the squeal goes away for a few days then returns, also if I give the brakes a bit of enthusiastic work for a few miles the squeal will go away until the next time I use the car.
There is approx 10mm of pad material left, the pads are evenly worn & the disc is looks and feels to be in good condition, WTF is going on, and why is only one caliper doing it?

Chris,
you could try taking the pads out and putting a bit of copperslip on the back of them, and then re-fit them, this might work, if that fails, you coult try shamfering the leading edge of the pad, or if you can't work out what that is, shamfer both top and bottom of the pads.
Ron.
(don't get any grease on the acting surface of the pads)

Ron, I've tried both these and the squeal keeps reappearing. Just removing & refitting the pads without actually doing anything else stops the squeal for a few days.
Stevie, The OE pads in the original 2-pots caused me no end of grief, so I replaced them with Red Stuff & EBC Grooved discs, massive improvement in stopping power. Replaced the EBC set-up with 4-pots and new OE pads & discs, slight improvement in stopping massive improvement in feel. So maybe I'll go the EBC route again, not sure at the moment though.

Removed pads this weekend and two circles of loose powdery pad material came out of the outer pad roughly in line with where the pistons would sit, almost down to the backplate.
Any suggestions?

Go to your local auto parts store, buy some antisqueal (less than $1 US!), and slather it on the back of each pad, and you should be fine! My 4 pots w/EBC greens squealed horribly, until I did this! 12,000 miles later, still no squealing!

annointed, cheers for the tip, but I already have the equivalent (at considerably more than $1) liberally spread on the pad backs.
I have refitted the knackered pad for the moment, but will be putting new OE items in I think.
