Hi,
IIRC, you cannot use any LPG system (as yet) with a turbocharged engine. Something to do with the compression of the LPG that could lead to liquified gas to be in the cylinder when the spark occurs. Kablammo.

hope that helps!

Steve, apparently it can be done, trouble is, no0one trusts it yet, I think it's the injection thats the issue.

Cool

You can deffo run it on an injected car, my previous employer had a kit on his EFi Range Rover, and I am having a kit fitted to my XR4x4 (2.8 K-Jet type). I drove the Range Rover a couple of times on both gas & petrol, and it was a damned sight smoother, and only a little slower on the gas.
As Shona says, I think it is more to do with the turbo side, the Saab's use a light pressure (F**k all boost) turbo, so they must think it is OK, wouldn't fit it to a scoob myself though.

I've got a 2.5 Legacy that's running on LPG without many hassles. The problem with the turbo'd engines is the delivery on/off boost. Because the fuel rates differ so much, the LPG system can't cope with it, and your car either runs stupidly rich off-boost, or dangerously lean on-boost. Neither being a good option.

The new injector-based system is currently being tested on a couple of Impreza WRX's to reasonable success. But, it's still being fine-tuned. I did promise to keep people posted last time, but still haven't heard anything As soon as I do, you guys will be the first to know (since I'm having mine re-converted to the injector system too )

Wasn't seriously considering it but did canvas a few companies about getting a conversion done and how much it would cost (if it could, indeed, be done).
A company called SPONGECARS quoted £1450 to convert the car. This is what the chap wrote:
"Our mechanics will fit a high specification, electronic multipoint, European
standard LPG unit which is covered by a warranty of up to 3 years. The tank
normally goes in the boot or in the spare wheel compartment. We can fill
your tyres with TyreSeal compound which will make them virtually puncture
proof, thus eliminating the need for a spare wheel."

I did get quotes from other companies but this was the only email I still had. Sadly I could find no info on performance levels/deterioration (if any) so not too sure how useful this info would be.

Thanks guys,

This should help him decide. I do think that he will be dissapointed with an LPG anyway as he is a new subaru maniac after he had my P1 for a weekend recently.
