Located where to plug the turbo timer in MY01 UK300 under the steering column shroud, but any ideas how to connect it to the hand brake? What do I have to remove to do this?

Just remember to declare it to your insurers - seriously. Your frigging with your alarm's auto arm function to make these work, so you might be invalidating your theft insurance.

Me dense...why do you have to wire it to the hb?

Does it 'kill' the engine if it is released?

Yup - it's a security thing. If you don't have an alarm & walk off with the engine running, it's a 'last resort' & cuts the engine when the handbrake is released.

Did you have to remove anything to wire it up? I'm just a bit unsure on what I can and can't remove with out breaking anything.

Question

Steve,
Sorry to butt in, I currently have the dual TT on order. Apart from the hand break wiring problem have you had any other probs or has it been relatively easy? Any info you give would be greatly received as i dont know what to expect when it arrives, although i am keen to give it a go (being a sparky).

I bought the wiring harness to go with it, which should just plug straight into the existing harness. This is located if you take off the steering shrouds. Like you I want to try it myself, but desperate not to break anything. On MY01 the centre consule looks a night mare to take apart to get to the handbrake. Let me know how you get on.

96... so u took it apart for nothin?.

Sorry mate

You must have some sort of switch to tell the dash light that the hang brake is on or off.

I have a MY99 and fitted my tt with the wiring harness. it is very easy , i connected to the handbrake on the wire going from the handbrake to the dash. It is easy as you get a little clip (supplied little red one)which nips the insulation and makes contact with the core. I took off the gear stick surround and the plastic around the handbrake. Its only two screws in the drinks holder. When pulling the gear surround out you have to give a real good pull.
Good luck.

The timer arrived on Thursday and due to me not ordering the harness with it was only able to go so far with it! Harness came on Friday and by dinner time I was giving it a trial run flooring the accelerator to see what the boost peaked at.
All in all it was very easy to fit (MY99) and would reccommend anyone who knows how to use a screwdriver to have a go! The hardest bit was deciding where to fit it.
Can anyone explain to me how the auto timer works though?

Question

Where'd you buy it from?

I'd imagine the instruction manual would explain how the auto timer worked?

Triple, cheers mate. I've been thinking about getting one for ages.

Ask in Drivetrain, I'm sure there's people in there that could help you.

It measures how hard you push your car by the boost and ignition (wired in via the harness). It then tries to work out how long it should leave the car on for using this information.

Is that what you wanted to know?

Neanderthal, your welcome.

Luke, the bit i find vague is when it talks about r.p.m. I take it that if you set it to auto time on 900 rpm rather than 1800 rpm it will set a longer time due to you being over 900 rpm longer? Even set at this it only gives a short run on time to what i would have expected. No major thing though, just curious.

Went to carry on fitting the TT, but I have been given the wrong harness. I'm now waiting for the new harness to come through. Hoping to eventually fit it this year.
The TT comes with instructions, a big booklet in Japanese, and a couple of sheets in English. Picture are not too clear.
How long on average do you set your timers?

I have mine (Blitz TT) set at a min of 30 seconds, its also set on the highest setting so if the car has had a hard run it calculates accordingly, tho I sometimes add more depending on how hard its had a run and for how long
