How do I check PPP ecu
#1
This has been worrying me for a while now, (I've obviously got too much free time on my hands )
Just thinking that the original owner of my car could have removed the PPP ecu and replaced it with a standard one. Would a dealer check before selling the car on, I know I didn't check, wouldn't know how.
So........how do I check, does the PPP ecu have something to differentiate from a standard ecu, if so, what do I look for and where do I find it.
Car in question is MY01 WRX.
Come to think of it, same applies for the centre section, didn't check that either, anything I should look out for?
Cheers Chris

On the old shape Impreza the Prodrive the ECU is light grey with pink STi stickers on it. I think the original one is brown so have a look at the ECU which is under a metal plate under the carpet in the pasanger side foot well.

Chris, i think you have to open the ecu metan box which is situated under the passenger's seats, and look for a small board attached with wirings to the original one (motherboard).
Let me know

Remove the carpet from the N/S foot well.Underneath is a metal kick plate / foot rest. Remove this.
You will then be able to see the ECU, this should have shiny silver and pink stickers across the case joint so that any tampering with the inside would be evident.
These stickers are not on the ECU as standard so that will be a good indication that the ECU is okay and a PPP one.
If you damage the stickers to have a look inside your PPP warranty will be void.
Nathan..

At 01.16 it probably wasn't as clear as it could have been.
Take off the sill cover in the N/S/F door area.
Undo the round carpet clips in the foot well area and as Steve says just peel the carpet back.

Thanks for your help everyone.
I'm obviously too paranoid when it comes to things like this but as I haven't driven a non PPP WRX I wouldn't know if it was there or not.
Will have a look when I get the car back, Rallytech spoiler hopefully being sprayed and fitted as we speak
Cheers
