Can anyone tell me what the large grey shrouded wire connect to?

I have just got one of these, and there wire is cut off to show one green wire, with silver wire surrounding it, I assume one of these (the green one ?) connects to the O2 sensor form the ecu, but what about the surrounding wire in the shroud ??

THanks
Rich

The shroud is the lambda sensor earth connection. Do not connect this wire to chassis - the ecu has a connection for both lambda signal and lambda ground, this is the correct location for it.

Thanks Richard,

i'm assuming that the green wire connects to the o2 sensor on the ecu, but i cant find a ground for this, do you know what pin it is

Right i just fitted mine recently... and the intructions where from bob rawle... so i believe them...

First off, take the o2 signal wire at the ECU

Then the 'engine block earth' where the ECU is bolted to the car (doesnt have to be taken from the engine block), you will see the bottom bolt that supports the ECU when you remove the kick plate....

Then take the power wire from any ignition live...

Then the normal earth from any good chassis earth point..

job done

Mine works fine this way..!

You should have a green wire (signal ground), a white wire (signal from ecu), a red wire (positive supply) and a black wire (negaitve supply). The end of the harness contains some conditioning mechamnism so if its missing you may have problems getting it to work.

Cheers for the help everyone, i will try this 2 moro

Bob, the end of the wire is missing, i have the green wire and the surrounding silver strands which i presume is the white wire.

if this doesnt work is it possible just to get the wire from the plug down ??

Hi,

I thought for best results the instructions say take the input signals from the lambda probe itself, not taking it from the ECU? Dan, did Bob say take it all from the ECU (i.e no wires running thru' the fire wall to the engine bay???)?

Cheers,

Tony.

Thats correct, bob took readings with the select monitor e.t.c, and found that the reading of the o2 sensor where more accurate when it is wire at the ECU... Taking the signal at the sensor can result in the o2 sensor under reading or something like that and it can cause the car to run rich....

Well thats what i thought..??
