Im getting an annoying problem with my classic shape Impreza Turbo 2000 AWD MY98. After fitting a Blitz SUS Induction Kit , Blitz NUR Spec Exhaust system and a Blitz SS BOV im having a few niggling problems.

When I come up to a junction and put my foot on the clutch when I stop the revs dip right down to the point the car almost stalls. Normally the car doesnt stall but on the odd few occasions it has stalled. When I try to restart the car it wont start and needs about 5 mins before it will restart. This only really happens after sustained use.

Any ideas??? This problem was never apparent before I carried out the above mods and is completly standard bar the exhaust , induction kit and BOV.
I was thinking it could be cause by the BOV , I might fit the original recirculating dump valve tomorrow and see what happens.
Thanks ,

If the BOV is leaking ( being held open at idle ) then it will cause problems, also if the Airflow meter has been damaged while fitting the air filter etc, then it too will cause problems, or if it has been damaged by the air filter. Dont think the MY98 ones are as easily damaged though.

The airflow meter is fine , no damadge there. If the dump valve was leaking at idle I would have thought the car wouldnt have idiled correct? Its only the initial stop at say a junction where the revs dip almost to the engine stalling then the come back up and sit steady.

had the same problem twice and both times it was the maf sensor

dont want to stir anything up but i think the blitz induction kit is prone to doing this due to not filtering out the smaller particles

X SOOOBY - So are you saying you had the exact same symptoms on your car as the maf sensor was dying????

Update - I refitted the standard recirculating dump valve back on and the car is fine now But It cost me the best part of £300 for the Blitz SS BOV , should I increase the tension on the spring on the Blitz BOV and see if this helps???

Yeah hopefully get time tomorrow to retension the dv and refitt it and see if this helps as the car runs perfectly with the original recirculating dv back on. Just picked up my downpipe tonight too So I will have the full decat now.

yep the idling got progressively worse until it started to stall and then check engine light and 2500rpm limit and both times it was the maf

one time was at a trackday so i was probably lucky that it didn`t blow the engine

i have a forge atmo dump valve fitted and i have no problem with that

its definately the bov, adjust the screw on the end and it tightens the spring tension, this will cure the prob, i know cause the same thing happened to me when i had blitz, and that cured my prob, if you need anymore help let me know

scoobybuzz - Yeah thats exactly what im going to do mate , just aint had time yet my car was away getting the tints done. I have adjusted the screw about 1 turn and retightened the locknut. Do you think this will be enough before I refit it mate?

Cheers
