Knock sensor – how much which make?

He was asking about a sensor ... (least thats how I read it)
If you have a faulty one then you must replace the factory item with the factory item.
If you are looking for the Bosch sensor to go with the knocklink then there are several companies that sell those including us.

I went to well lane and they tested it by taking off the knock linc and tied it to a rubber pipe and then earthed it to the body.
I then drove the car and found this to be the fault (hesitation and inital overboost) so i've ordered a new one.Only genuine part can be used from dealerfor about £72.00 + vat.

Cheers for the replies, sorry about the delay in posting back. It was a knock sensor display I was thinking of, am I right in thinking I will need a different knock sensor to run one of these?
Got a few things happening at the moment, hesitation and over boost, usual 4th and 5th gear situation. Was interested in a knock display just to make sure nothing to serious going on! With the mods I've made its not surprising that its happening!
MY99
PPP
Full de cat front and middle (Magnex down pipe and straight through middle section)
Pro Drive back box
Was running an induction kit but it took out the MAF sensor so standard filter and air box back on.
I need to get these problems sorted but I'm not very confident in drilling out the restricter myself etc, also don't want to pay loads of labour charges at a garage! Can't have everything I suppose!!

Dowser, fair comments. I have got a boost gauge fitted and it shows over boost at 19.5 PSI. I have read on here about changing the restricter before but it is not something I feel happy about doing myself. A re-map is an option but a relatively expensive one and I wouldn't want to go down that road unless it would also give me performance gains. I seem to remember that a re-map of a PPP ECU is about £500. If I have this done what happens when and if I come to sell the car. I would have to put the CATS back on so would the ECU need mapping back to its original state costing me another £500!

But the knocklink wont fix your problem - I guess you know already that the issue is poor boost control following the decat, and that the only fix (maintaining ecu boost control) is either the restrictor or a remap.
I guess you haven't got a boost gauge, else you'd have fixed this already (boost oscillation doesn't give a 'warm and cuddly' feeling ).
I'd suggest getting a boost gauge (can be temporary install only), and buying 2 or 3 new restrictors plus the small drill bits. You then just do a couple of different sizes and try them.
The (small) amount of effort required will be worthwhile If you need the restrictor part number, email me - I've got it at home.
Richard
PS: Knocklink is also a good idea too and yes, you'll need a separate sensor. Most places provide the complete kit.
