Anbody had a superchip fitted to their car?

Particularly interested in any MY01 owners having one installed. What do you think?

General consensus on here in the few months I've been on is: Bad. I think it just raises boost and gets rid of fuel cut.....fuel cut is there for a reason

Agree with Saxo Boy here,
the general consenis is that the superchips of old were not set up correctly on alot of scoobs thus causing engines to go bang
Now, the choice is yours but 450 quid or 4500 for an engine....
I'd personally look at something different or wait for an ECUTEK to come out for the MY01 (which is now in developement) which will be a safer option than a superchip.
Like they say, "once you've been tarred its hard to get it off....."

Don't go the superchip route, they are nothing more than a very expensive Fuel cut defender & a bleed valve, Bought one for my GT4 many moons ago never again.

I'll be doing the exhuast first. Then the next pay packet will probably be colour coded side and rear skirting along with an sti6 front lip. Think they look the biz!

Yep, that was my car, and I took it for the rolling road because I could feel that in the car. Problem was identified and was fixed a week later. I then did another RR and it was smooth as silk.

I take all the comments about the risk, but I had no problems whatsoever with the superchip both on a MY98 wagon and MY01 wagon.

This is such an old debate now. Alot of guys say that Superchips will cause your engine to go bang.
But how many out there actually have gone bang?
The second follow up question, how many people installed it themselves and turned up the boost to unacceptable levels?

I had one for almost 2 years, professionllly installed, never played about with it and it transformed the car. Go speak to a superchip installer, I actually believe they come with a special guarantee now. Try Falkland Peformance they are the biggest Superchip dealer in the UK.
