Is there any way of stiffening up the steering on a MY01 and also reducing the ratio on the rack to decrease turns lock to lock?

I find it a little over light and I wouldn't mind cutting out the amount of twirling I need to do on the twisties (I know it will mean I'll need to correct the steering more while driving, don't mind that)

Cool

Two options;
  • Change the wheels for ones with a lower ET (certain well known specialist recommend ET +48 for improved steering feel.
  • Find/Buy an New Age STi Steering rack - these have a higher ratio.

Hope that helps.

Will the STi rack slot in nice and handy or will there be lump hammers involved?

You could try replacing the steering wheel with a 330mm item. Won't reduce amount of turns lock to lock but will put a bit of weight in the steering and will give the effect of reducing the amount of twirling you have to do by virtue of the fact that the diameter has reduced. And it will cost a bit less than a new rack.

Is there a replacement with an airbag then? I like the thought of having a nice comfy pillow to sleep on in the event of an accident

Agree with Bugeye - ET48 (i think) seems to sort out the weight of the steering - Pete C will confirm!!!
