Just a thought, Change the rad cap!!

If the seal has rolled it won't hold pressure and that will alow the coolent to boil.

Had this problem when I first got the car afer it was serviced.

Hope you get it sorted soon
Iain.

Gadge

I would suggest you get a hydrocarbon test done on the coolant.

It is, almost always, a head gasket problem.

Could be. It needs testing. Were the heads skimmed? If so by how much?

Pete
the heads where not skimed (afaik) a sticking valve when i bought the car was the reason the gaskets where done as the garadge that i bought it from sent the car to a impreza specilist to have the work done (some place just south on Newcastle) he had all the valves replaced for me so that there would not be any truble like that again they allso done the timeing belt service FOC ,

They also air lock very easy. Be sure that the system is completely filled with water.

I have a Legacy Turbo that is doing the same. It keeps on weeping form the seal at the top of the header tank.
Is the header tank in 2 parts? Is there a seal around the top of the tank? Or is it split?

The early plastic tanks, are also just plain ****. They leak/break all the time. Ther are just made of the crappest type of plastic known to man

I ordered a Forge alloy tank for my MY93 jap WRX and when I got it the lower mount was in the wrong place

I spoke to forge they advised me that they thought this should fit all early imprezas no problem got my money back but still have no header tank

I am reluctant to repace with an O.E. item as they obviously have a reputation any sugestions
