Red face

for a while, I've noticed that the boost solenoid is still ticking at idle when I've been on a run. and still ticks for 2 secs when I turn the ignition off! (rpms are a bit high too, like 1-1.1k)

but last night it did the weirdest of things. I'd left it idleing for 5 minutes, cool down & to see if it stopped ticking ; when I pressed the loud pedal and the engine 'bliped' but nothing more.

I could press the pedal to WOT and the engine would just BLIP .... BLIP ... BLIP ...BLIP !!! wouldnt even do it if I pressed slowly, or fast - nothing!

so I switched it off, restarted immediatly and all was fine - rpm lower, throttle actually worked, no solenoid tick !

what the hell is going on !?!?!

some monkey's been in and killed your ecu via the select monitor port, I bet if you look they even cut the connector off.

actually, it could be the throttle position sensor, but if you did open the throttle, more air would get in regardless, weird?!?

Open the bonnet and blip the throttle with your hand on the throttle spindle, just to make sure it's not the cable or something silly.

Paul,

Yeah - monkeys Eh ! (havent touched the thing in weeks actually! )

did as you said last night - cable moving ok & even if I did move spindle by hand, same thing happened!

thought it could be position sensor - but y would that correct itself if i OFF/ON'ed the ignition?!?

would have plugged in select - if
a) had a damn connector
b) laptop had some juice!

thinking it could be a temperature thing. i.e. when hot, ecu thinks the throttle is still open (that would cause solenoid - but not splutter splutter!)

Oh - just remembered - before I OFF/ON'ed, I tried to move the car back and forwards, using gears .. very hard, as throttle did nothing .. but then when I had moved back to original spot-it all worked!!!

checked for loose connections etc before moving car!

will see if I can make it do it again tonight !
