Its a while since i did mine so cannot remember all the colours. On the Ecu you have 4 plugs,1 large one & 3 smaller. The plug you need is the opposite end to the large plug. Make sure you are looking at the Ecu with the realese tabs for the plugs at the top. On the plug use the pinouts under the release tabs (top row as such) count 4 pins from right to left. The 4th pin is the wire that you need to cut & bridge with the white & yellow on the Hks Defenser. If you can wait till later today i will Email you some diagrams which will make it clearer. I also had probs with mine when using an ignition feed (engine check light & low boost) changed to permanent live , No probs now. will explain all in mail.

Ok got the defenser fitted and tried to raise boost with the dawes boost controller but as soon as i try to exceed 14/15 psi the car has serious hesitation like its still hitting fuel cut.I tested the voltages coming in and going out of the defenser to ensure it was working under load and it seem to regulate fine so what could the problem be this time.

Have u tried on a higher setting (I.E raising the fuel cut thresh hold further). Is 12 the lowest & 1 the highest( i can't remember). Only probs i had was with the power feeds as i explained. I will have a look tomorrow to see what mines set at.

Sounds like coilpacks to me too.
I had exactly the same problem on my 96 Turbo. Thought it was the FCD. It wasn't. A full set of coil packs will cost you about £200. If big boost is your aim, I'd fit Iridium plugs at the same time.
On the early cars the coil packs are inherently weak and deteriorate over time and therefore produce a weak spark.
With the FCD set to 7 you should be able to go well over 14-15psi without hitting fuel cut.
