Default JDM Subaru WRX S4 2015 Smart key programming issue help needed

Hi everyone,

I have a Japanese import Subaru WRX S4 GT-S Eyesight (2015).

Original key:
• Subaru smart key part number: 14AHA-01
• Frequency: 312.15 MHz FSK (JDM)
• Push start + Eyesight

I bought a genuine replacement key (same part number) from China, but it cannot be programmed.
The car does not recognise the transponder at all.

What I’ve tried:
• Local UK auto locksmith – failed (no transponder detection)
• Subaru UK dealer – confirmed they cannot program JDM keys
• Advised to contact Subaru Japan

I understand this is a JDM immobiliser / SSM issue rather than just a remote pairing problem.

Question:
Has anyone in the UK/EU successfully programmed JDM Subaru smart keys
(WRX S4 / Levorg / JDM Impreza, 312MHz)?
Or knows a specialist / importer / locksmith who can handle JDM immobiliser programming
(SSM3/SSM4, EEPROM, ECU bench work, etc.)?

Any advice or contacts would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

"I bought a genuine replacement key (same part number) from China, but it cannot be programmed." Can you elaborate on this a bit, as transponders are normally country specific ie the alarm/ immobiliser are often fitted by the importing country. China isn't where I'd personally buy genuine parts.

You are right about country specific. Actually, the key was order by a locksmith for me. The suppiler is based in China, and has been supplying Subaru key fobs with differe country specs(US, EU, JP etc.) I found out the root cause later, i.e. the locksmith picked 315Mhz instead of 312.15Mhz. That's why the IMMO couldn't communicate with the transponder with the key.

I did quite a bit research, finally got a used Jap spec(312.15Mhz, FSK, unlocked) key fob from a different suppiler. Then, the locksmith managed to reprogram it. Please note that it requires Autel IM508/508 S or 608/608 Pro(IMMO version newer than v2.4 and Subaru version newer than v26) to reprogram most Subaru JDMs' smart key fobs.

Did you get one from Aliexpress? If its similar to the BMW keys they sell then you'll need someone with the correct kit to reprogramme them. Give @immotec a shout

If you're not local to him then you can post the keys to him.
