Question Forester 2002 Immobiliser & PIN Not Working / UK :(

Hi all, new to the forum and hoping someone can help!

My 2002 Forester has a Sigma immobilizer system, with a separate Fob from the keys. It was all working fine, then the other day the red light next to the steering wheel wouldn't flash when clicking my Fob so I could not start the car.

1. Changed the batteries in the Fob, it is still working and sending a signal. 2. Checked all the fuses and they are all fine. 3. No paperwork with the car, so I just got the PIN of Subaru main dealer

When I enter the PIN the red light on the pad flashes multiple times and nothing happens, so the previous owner may have changed the code.... I wanted to ask advice if I am entering the Pin code right? Input 4 digits when the ignition is in 'off' position. I'm not entering any # or *, just the straight 4 digits. Is there something I need to do after entering the 4-digit pin, or what is meant to happen at that point? For me, no red light flashes to show enabled/disabled next to the steering wheel, and the car won't start after entering, the keypad just flashes multiple times.

Maybe the radio receiver on the immobilizer is broken, and the code has been changed by previous owner. What can be done (apart from getting an auto-electrician out at considerable cost to bypass the immobiliser). Has anyone used an obd2 that is specialized for reprogramming keys to rest a code on the keypad before / is that possible?

Love my 2022 Forester, drives like a dream and is so frustrating that the immobiliser has packed it in! If anyone has any advice or ideas, I am all ears! Cheers
