Yes no issues, I run it around the header pipes so the water sprays a finer mist. also mix it with alcohol.

Standard Water Injection???????????

Am I missing something!!!!!!!!!!!

Not intercooler water spray , if thats what you were thinking?

If not I wasn't aware that it was ever fitted as standard, interested in the details.

I run mappable water injection.

Excellent results.

Issues

- mapping can be a bit hit and miss
- the injector can get blocked quite easily

Pluses

- with a mappable ECU you can got more power
- or run your car more safely
- makes power more consistent - less prone to big changes in ambient temp (not immune but better)
- even on very hot track days - massively reduced det

Overall, I would do it again if I had a modified turbo car.

Dave

The blocked Injector - how does this happen - something I should be concerned about...

Is yours mapped up to 28 degrees, your convinced that this is the break point?

Huge difference, makes the car a lot more responsive when you put your foot down.

I run a GRP A Water Injection.

Mapped Properly, doesn't give any power just keeps the ACT at the optimum level for peak performance.

On a standard Scoob this would be good, as the TMIC is less than useless and the airflow from the scoop does very little.

TO be Honest few of you have ACT gauges so you wouldn't realise how poor the TMIC is.

Not a plug But i fit these for £45, and you should have one really to know if you need water Injection.

For £300 you can have WI that works on indepentant sensor's for Boost and ACT.

Just FYI really.

Of course a proper intercooler would do the job, with no worries about running out of water, jets blocking etc. May be a bit more expesnive, but more reliable, and maintenance free. After all, a jet blockage could destroy your engine if you are actually making full use of the water injection.

I thought the ERL units had blocked jet detection/alarm ?

Andy,

The 2S system does, but only if you use one jet.

Steve:

I agree to some extent about a FMIC, BUT, what happens when you have a FMIC, and still want more ? Or, want to retain power when our hot summers come (I can dream) and don't want the ECU pulling back the ignition, boost, or adding fuel, as the intake temps start hitting 45 deg'C.

It's all relative, to the level of tune you want.

Mark.

I had an XR2 turbo technic , must have been 14 years ago fitted with water injection , done by MV Turbos about 200 plus bhp , wheel-spinned in every gear!
Seemingly used by Rolls Royce on the Spitfire or Hurricane fighters in WW2 so it's not a new thing but certainly works to great effect!
Got some very strange looks in the petrol stations when filling up the very large water bottle in the boot. Even stranger looks when out dragging Sierra Cosworths' and numerous German supercars on a regular basis.

Drive.
