Sorry, originally posted this to wrong forum!!! I a bit new at this!! I have one of the last of the original shape cars, registered in dec 2001. I have noticed that it does not run as smoothly or appear to have as much power as my old 99MY car. I have been advised that the tek 2 will sort this out as well as complete the full scoobysport exhaust and blitz induction kit. Is this true? Anyone got the same spec? Will I be able to run on normal unleaded safely?

A Tek and all that kit should take you up to 250bhp I think? They should map it for 95RON or whatever you specify, I;d specify 97 RON or 98 though cos if you use that it gives smoother running, lower engine temps and moooorrreeeee pppoowweeerrrr. Haven't got one myself but I've heard only good things!

If you are running a standard UK car then you can run on 95 RON but it would be smoother and mayeb better mpg on 97 RON. If you start playing with it you need at least 97 RON preferably with octane booster. I run Optimax which is 98 and a bit RON with octane booster, mind you the car is an import and has already been factory enhanced . Pays ya money I am sure some with a Uk with just a decat and induction kit running 280+bhp will say it runs fine on 95 RON (yeah if you like ).

The Tek1 would actually sort it out - that is if all you want is for it to run as well as the MY99 - the Tek2 takes it above that, doing bits like advancing the timing & upping the boost. And both the Tek1 & Tek2 are 'off the shelf' products, so are designed to run 'as normal' for UK cars (i.e. will work on 95RON but are happier on 97). They both retain the oem ecu built-in capability of coping with cr4p fuel.
