Default Steering Rack Grease

Just in process of replacing my worn tie rods and the grease on the teeth of the rack was pretty manky so I’ve cleaned it off to replace. Question is, what grease would you use to replace it? I know it’ll need to be thick and withstand some temperature. FSM calls for some “special” grease but would like to avoid having to spend however many millions Subaru will want for some probably fairly ordinary grease. I’ve got some thick red rubber grease and some silicone grease to hand as well as some specialist suspension greases for the push bike. I’m leaning towards the red rubber grease hoping it’ll be the least likely to react badly with anything.

Maybe the proper stuff is available cheap somewhere?

The stuff on mine looked like pretty generic lithium grease, so this is exactly what I put I mine when I was doing the same job (Castrol, if I remember rightly). No issues so far.

I might just pick up some Castrol High Temperature Grease then unless someone comes up with a better alternative. Looking at pictures it does look pretty similar in colour and consistency to what was already on there.
