Default Rocker cover gasket problems

Anyone had issues with rocker cover gaskets just not sealing?

55 reg blobeye WRX which I purchased new rocker cover gaskets for, as well as the usual Three Bond sealer, but after 2 attempts with the Three Bond and 1 attempt with Hylomar, the ferkin thing is still weeping oil.

There doesn’t appear to be any oil around the timing belt covers, so I’m not expecting the issue to be cam gaskets and the oil isn’t coming down the back of cylinder heads, so not the half moon gaskets either. It’s only along the usual bottom edge.

I dont see any cracks either on the cylinder head, or rocker cover. So can I assume it’s the gasket itself, or something else I’m not thinking of?

It might not be leaking.
It might be oil that's on the underside of engine that keeps coming to that point.
I went through the same quite a few years ago.
Before you do it again get under the car and give the whole under side of engine a good clean.
It collects under there when you take the rocker cover off to change it.

Yer, that might be an idea. Suppose I could try a jet wash...

Thanks

Just use a towel mate and dry off all the excess oil.
But not just under the rocker cover side but the whole underside of the block.

hi
I had a similar experience, both sides were leaking so had them done but the driver side one still leaked.
The garage had to re do it, they tilted the engine/car so that the oil wasn't contaminating the gasket until it had gone off.
I was having the engine mounts replaced at the time so may have made the job a tad easier.
Fingers crossed all seems ok now.

Regards
russell

Did you replace the rocker cover bolt washer seals ?

You can see them in this image (not for your car !)
