Default Does up pipe length affect spool?

Hi All,

Was just looking at the external wastegate setups... most of these have a fair extra length of pipe to "fill with gas" will this affect spool negatively?

The engine has to fill the void with exhaust gas and anything with a larger void will take longer to fill but it will be minuscule.

I certainly noticed an improvement in spool after changing from standard sti uppipe to a Harvey Smith trick uppipe. Although I also went to a 3" hayward and Scott decat downpipe at the same and changed from a 2.5" to a 3" turbo back exhaust. after an Andy Forrest map the car now boosts at 3k @1.4 bar

If you compare with the increased volume of a FMIC and it's piping, the uppipe shown will have a negligible negative effect on spool. Plus your tuner will be tuning for it. I have an old import STI with stock VF24 turbo. When Bob Rawle tuned my car, the lag with a Hybrid version 1 FMIC felt like less than untuned with the stock TMIC.

Do you sustain 1.4 from 3k all the way or does it hit at 3k then taper off early ?
