Equal Length Headers, Lower Spool Time
#1
Hi All,
I am interested in lowering the spool point for the stock turbo.
Yes, I know MBC’s and freer flowing exhausts can help. I also understand that a catless up pipe can help.
Saying that, from the reports I have read on this forum, they don’t help that much.
What does look promising, if one is to believe the rumors and advertising, is that a good equal length header will lower the fast spool point from about 3000 to 2000. If this is true, this is what I am looking for.
Does any one here have any personal experience with them ?.

i guess you are talking about the new WRX02 model year ? if you have a cat in the up pipe then removing it well help. depending on the equal length manifold that you get, but a lot of them seem to improve the mid and top range and some of them will make you low range even worse at that expense.
on the older shape imporze which does not have a cat in the up pipe, porting the headers gave more power at the top and mid range with out affecting the low end much at all.
i hope this helps
