Default Bad ground - does this affect turbo spool up?

I've been having some problems with the electronics on my car - alarm being weird, knock sensor coming on/off. Apparently it might be a bad ground.

Usually I didn't think this would affect the turbo spool up, but this weekend the car suddenly ran amazing - full boost (1.1-1.2) at 3krpm in 2nd, 3rd, 4th. It felt like this was what it should have been running like all the time!!

Then today its back to 6krpm before it hits the boost. Something to do with ECU maybe? Would the bad ground be affecting this?

Cheers for any input.

Ash

edit: Would a grounding kit help?

Poor earth will effect the battery voltage seen by the ecu, this has someone knock on effect to how the car performs but not sure it would be as dramatic as slugging turbo spool to that extent

the standard grounds should be sufficient for the car so adding a grounding kit is usually not needed unless there is a fault. Check the grounds to make sure the contacts are clean and well joined.

If you do have a bad earth somewhere then it could be messing with the sensor readings and the car will play about on you but it's very difficult to say without seeing the car and logging it. Check the grounds first to see if any are damaged or in poor condition but you may end up with a trip to the garage for a proper diagnosis if something else is also at fault.

As Bludgod says. If you are also getting a knock sensor code the standard ecu will restrict boost because of that.

One of the places they suggest grounding properly is the fixings of the ecu to the bodywork, so you might have been experiencing odd effects.
