Default NEED HELP ASAP!!!

Thanks in advance. I own a 2002 wrx. It has a full 3in exhaust, and a cold air intake, and that pretty much it other than that it’s bone stock. This morning i started my car and it seemed fine until I started driving it. The first thing I realized was that my speedometer was no longer working, and the tripometer stopped working as well. The next thing i realize was that any time I would rev out it would not go past 5k rmps, and it would start bucking around and acting really unusual. Anything up until 5k it runs fine. Builds boost, and feels fine. After I realized that I took it home and unplugged the battery to reset the ecu. When I plugged it back it the speedometer still did not work, but for the first 3 pulls it would rev out no problem at all. 4th pull same symptoms. I just am at a loss. Any help is appreciated.

But could this be causing the rev issue?

ossett2k2 made a good point that's your problem but it'll not be a cable but the sensor in the box. V1/3 had the speed sensor in the clocks which in turn sends a signal to the ecu from the clocks. Post v3 gets its signal more directly from the sensor in the gearbox. Check your plugs to the sensor and good luck getting it out if its broke.
