Default Boost problems

Recently got my car back on the road (project thread). Before I took it apart I had boost problems, guy at garage said coil pack was cracked , coils 1 and 3 were arcing. Bought a new one put it on,
boosts fine, hits peak boost at 3-4k rpm
now took it out for another drive yesterday. Boosted fine again but after 10 mins suddenly no boost,.. would just climb slowly (ish) to 6-7k then maybe a tiny bit at the end.. back to how it was before I took it apart.xx

where should I be checking? Boost leak? Maybe actuator spring is ****ed?

It genuinely feels like it’s random whether it will hold boost or not...some days it does some days it doesn’t...

Standard ecu and non mods?
No cel stored?
Possible that since the ecu reset a fault is causing the timing to be pulled or boost errors corrected?
Could be lots of things, pipework would be my 1st check.

Edit:
Read your project,ESL
Have you got a data cable?
Looking at your learning tables, data log,is a good diagnostic tool.

What max boost are you getting and what was it when running ok?
Try reset the ecu again and see if it clears the problem for a while again.

Disconnect the electrical connector to the BCS, to see if you're at least getting raw WG-spring crack pressure...consistently! If there are any issues, then it's likely to be a pipework issue between turbo through to throttle body...or a problem with the WGA itself.

If it's fine and only happens when the BCS is reconnected and back in the loop, then it's no doubt an issue with the BCS itself, or the signal getting to it from the ECU...

Thanks for the replies guys-

Makes 1.4 on a good day, but when the boost is lacking makes less than 1... so some pressure is still being held..

data cable? How do I go about it with esl? Do I need to buy any hardware to log it? (All my mapping was done by Andrew carr and tbh I’m not 100% clued up on the electronics side of tuning)

ill also try disconnecting the bcs.. I have a new 3 port to go on but I was waiting till the next map session (new bcs, injectors , front mount, fpr) before I was gonna install it.

My idea behind it was the actuator spring has been sat for a while so stiffened up (hence holding boost for a bit) and then gets loose due to use... but like you guys say it could be anything, pipes, etc, I mean it could even be the standard turbo inlet I have, what psi are they rated to?

Cable:

Just a laptop or tablet needed.

You can get them half price if you book onto the esl mapping course, that way you can map in your own 3 port, injectors etc

I would think a standard inlet would be ok at 1.4bar,the plastic can crack so check,it won't collapse under boost like cheap aftermarket ones that restrict boost.

I still have my 1999 OEM turbo inlet hose - running 1.5 barg peak, 1.3 held.

Plus the warm fuzzy feeling lol of knowing it won't collapse, as mentioned.

thats good to know

If the weather is better this weekend I'll try to see if I can determine the problem. Its plagued the car for years tbh... thought the new coil pack had fixed it but clearly not
