Hi Doofus,

From what I've read - the Tek1 is well worth it.

I don't have one, as I already run a MY99 with the 801 cpu - however when John went out in my unmodified car he said it felt a lot more lively than his did unmodified when he was running the 802 cpu.

I think the gains are more than just ironing out the hesitation issues, etc but John would be a better person to get the low down from than me

The Tek2 sounds excellent though.

Hi Doofus,

The Tek1 is basically a MY99 ECU which runs slightly less fuel and more ignition advance, along with more boost on part throttle. The Tek1 is also ever so slightly leaner still (but still very safely rich) and runs slightly more boost. See the Ecutek site for some dyno comparisons.

Please note the scaling on this graph but the torque curve in particular is a lot fatter

I am in Dunfermline, so best done in an evening or weekend at my place as I have all the facilities here I need. I happen to be available tonight

I only offer the equivalent to a Tek3 which is a full custom map to your requirements and takes two to three hours. I charge £500 for this (no VAT) - this is the same price as a mail order Tek2 and an introductory price for me. This will result in very substantial but safe improvements in performance - with decat you should be 255-265 BHP on the most conservative rolling roads, and around 270-280 on the higher reading ones, but every car is different, and the temperature on the day and the setup of the rollers can make a difference.

However, if you don't want a Tek3 I do have 2 MY99 AE801 ECUs which if you are quick - ie tell me tonight if you can (they are in a queue to get reprogrammed when I can as I was not planning to sell them) I could exchange for your MY00 ECU for £75 - takes 10 minutes to do. This would give you almost the gain of a Tek1. Because of my overheads I am not able to offer the Tek1 at a sensible price, hence I don't offer it at all. If you want whilst you are here I can also let you have a sample drive with a Tek2 with no obligation if you dare try it - because if you do you will want one!

Give me a call 01383 735705 if you want - I am in now.

Doofus I am holding one of these MY99 AE801 Brown label ECUs for you if you want it until tomorrow noon in exchange for you AE802 and £75. They are in for sale section for swaps with MY00 ECUs.

Provisionally held until noon Wed for:

1. Doofus

2. Jon Wallis

Please let me know guys by email.

For Doofus I can fit locally. For Jon if you want me to send you this and then you send yours by return that is OK so you are not left without an ECU, but I need an ECU back very quickly.
