I did open the bonnet and th belts looked alright to me. I know that the clutch is sitting a bit high but would that cause the air con to do that ?

I know what you mean now. Googled it earlier . I've never had an air con motor go on me before so I haven't a clue what it entails sorting it out.

The belt but could be slipping as the clutch takes up drive giving your whistling sound, so you need to be looking under the bonnet when the a/c is switched on.

It may be low on gas, it maybe something totally different. Worth getting it serviced/regassed/oiled.

If it is the compressor then speak to "Adge" see thread below

The belt - of course yes (has to be cut off and a"special tool" used to stretch fit.

The clutch, it is, but getting the parts is the problem.

Mine's always done that. '02 WRX. Still blows cold without any issues. That's 3 years and 55k miles with almost always on.

It sounds like it. Mines a constant whining noise and only shuts up when I switch the air con off
