Default Fitting a classic exhaust to a Newage; Donut or flat gasket??

I'm putting a classic 3" turbo back exhaust on my Blob. At the end of the classic downpipe, should I join the mid section with a flat gasket or a donut type to allow some flex??

I would think it depends upon whether the downpipe has the spigot to take the donut gasket.

The donut has to sit on a spigot

and the pipe that attaches to it should have a recess, so that some "swivel action" can take place.

If neither of the above it's flat gasket.

I've got the recess in the exhaust flange but the downpipe is the flat gasket kind. Any issues with not running a donut gasket? i.e. cracked exhaust etc?

Hmm... That's my concern. 99% of the downpipe out there seem to be the flat gasket type with no flexi though. Might be enough movement in the rubber hangers?
