Are they like for like ? guy selling a vf35 reckons the oil banjo in vf28 has a restrictor , the vf35 does not but just a matter of drilling out the vf28 restrictor . Please confirm if someone has done this upgrade before .
Vf28 on my sti version 5 is making 331bhp at 1.4 bar . Told a Vf35 good for 1.5 bar and capable of higher figures . As I said I am all ears as any research I have done suggests it's a good upgrade .
the 28 is a ball/rolller bearing turbo, the 35 is a thrust/oil bearing turbo, thats the reason for the oil banjo difference. dont drill it out, just buy the proper one. as for upgrade.. the 28 is a brilliant turbo. early spool and good midrange, pretty much the same as the 35. i went from 28 to td05 16g then promptly to vf48 and im pretty happy at 350. v4 sti engined esl powered uk wagon
@nortonscooby engine is coming out so figured may as well do it while it's out . Vf28 is fine but don't think it will make 350bhp and a Vf35 should ?
A vf35 won't nessaserly make 350 so don't get your hopes up, 330 is the general figure some make more but that's down to individual cars and mods.
Doesn't mean it WILL make 350.
You seem fixated on it, so do it and waste your money.

Spot on - mine only made 320 - but I was still happy with that. Given what the OP is already at, it seems a bit daft to replace with a vf35.....
