hi I had a car imported and as I needed a rear fog light I got someone I know to wire one in now every time I press the button it blows the 10amp fuse so my number plate lights and rear fogs do not work , iv test fitted a 15amp fuse and it all works fine would it be ok to use the 15amp or is there a problem with the wiring any help would be appreciated

if there was a fault the 15 amp would have blown to, it sounds like your pulling just over 10 amps, only concern is the wiring being ok of the increased loads but it should be ok.

run a ignition switched fused 12v supply to the power source for the unit, use a 12v relay so you are not pulling the power off the reverse circuit, have the reverse light wiring on the relay so then u go in reverse the relay operates and uses the 12v supply to run the camera.

It is easy trust me, hardest part is getting the feed from the reversing light. But if you are not confident then yeah get a qualified person in to do it, should take them less than an hour

Find out what the problem is and resolve it. If you are running led number plate lamps the load will be alot less than with filament lamps in and it shouldnt trip the fuse.

i would just use a totally separate supply straight from the battery that is fused near the battery use thicker wire that what you need and then if you want to add more things like a camera you can , it's the safest easiest option

most wiring in modern cars is designed just to do what it's built for and not designed for other things to be added , option above is not expensive either
