Default When is a VTA BOV better than a Recirc and vice versa?

I'm interested in this. I have two Scoobies and one is a Blob with a GFB VTA BOV on it (mapped with it) and the other is a 2.5 2012 STI Saloon with the standard recirc, standard map etc.

I'd like to know why running a VTA is a good thing? And whether I'd gain anything running an uprated aftermarket recirc on the 2012 as I've seen a few people doing this?

I'll be going for decent power with the Blob, around 400bhp.

Cheers for that, a good read. It actually just left me thinking "so.... run one if you want and if you don't, well, don't!". Doesn't sound like it makes that much difference either way.

Fair dos. I'll probably uprate the recirc on the 2012 with another recirc like a Forge or something. Just so I know it's strong and working as it should.

I asked a similar question not long ago, the answer was basically there is negligible difference. I was changing the VTA to a recirc to get rid of the bus hiss
