Default 97 WRX not starting

Hi all.
I have 2 x WRX's but one is just refusing to start. It cranks perfectly, has spark/fuel etc but just cranks and cranks.
I've read 100's of posts online about similar problems and tried all the cures mentioned.
Crank sensor (removed/cleaned and checked for resistance) (also checked voltage and earth from lead.
Plugs (New)
Fuel out of pipe from filter when ignition is on.
Standard ECU unplugged and reconnected.
Battery removed and refitted cleaning connections.
Timing marks twin to single (perfect).
I'm stumped. The car has been like this now for over a week and i'm gutted.
I live in South Spain and there's no garage within 100km of me that know anything about scooby's so it's not like i can just pop it down the road to be diagnosed.
If anyone can think of something i've missed please help me.
Many thanks for the forum as i've learned LOADS and managed to drive the wife mental talking about it.

Have you run a diagnostic check using the cars self diagnostics?

Thanks for getting back to me.
There's no alarm/imob fitted.
The car that wont start i have just bought online and cant find the plugs to self test.
On my Legacy GT JDM they were easy to find.
The Impreza ran perfect then it spluttered and popped and died.
It started twice after that but only ran for about 1 min then stalled.
Now nothing.

Could be maf related?
The black and green plugs(you only need black to diagnose) will be there together, have a good look and if you struggle to find then take off the trim below the steering wheel, this will make it easier to find them.

I've removed the door shut trim that covers the fuses and removed the trim under the steering wheel and no plugs.
I disconnect the Maf and no change.

Plugs will be there somewhere.
If not been used before they might well be taped up by the steering column.
Unplugging the maf will tell you nothing.

Just clutching at any answer. Hate it sat there. I want it running so i can paint it.
It just looks sad parked up.
I hate to say it but the person that had it before me may well have cut them as i have spent a long time looking for the plugs and (nothing).
I know what they look like as i used them in the Legacy but just cant find them.
I may have to put another post on to find out where the diagnostic wires go to and rewire them.
No CEL comes on.

Hi.
When i looked there were some wires cut and taped together.
Today i'm going to see if i can get a diagnostic code checker and see what it comes up with. The timing is perfect 2 lines to 1.
Thanks for the reply, any other ideas?

How long has the car been sat? Fuel can go off after about a year,so if it's not been run for ages it might be worth putting some fresh stuff in.

Back again.
The car ran perfectly when i got it but only for 1 day.
When it spluttered the first time i went and got some 98ron petrol (2 gallons) just incase the fuel gauge was wrong.
Right i've found the plugs wrapped in tape strapped up above the steering column (Hidden).
I did a test and it came up with loads of codes that i'm looking up now.

I've just looked them up and 14,15,16,17 are injectors.
44 is Wastegate duty solenoid (turbo)
24 is Air control valve or circuit ------ Idle speed control solenoid valve
I'll look online and see what i can find to explain them.

Just so you know, some of those fault code could be old stored codes.
I would use the green and black connectors and follow the reset procedure, then try start the car,if it doesn't start then read for fault codes again.

Checked visually or with a meter?
Both fuse boxes checked too?

I pulled every fuse 1x1 and all were ok, inside the car and out.
If i had a manual i would know which fuse but i don't.
If you know which it is that would be great.
I have multi meters so i can check properly if i know what to look for.

P.S. Thank you so much for taking the time to go through this with me.

Cheers, Is it a good idea just to run another cable direct from manifold - body or just clean the original ?
I'll try anything to get it going.
LOL @ the flights, someone else said the same to me on another forum.

are'nt the injectors controlled by the crankshaft sensor? although you would expect a faulty crankshaft sensor to throw a fault code, for all four to go down at once i would suggest either cranksahft sensor, ecu fault or a wiring fault. youd be pretty unlucky if all 4 injectors failed at once.

Have you had the the connectors off of the injectors recently?
The cam sensor and injector blocks are the same and can get mixed up.

if it was my car the first thing id do is check the wiring for the injectors, just trace the wires back from the injector see if they go into a multiplug, if they do make sure its connected properly and clean etc... if the loom goes direct to ecu make sure the multiplug on the ecu is clean and connected properly... if all is ok i would suggest trying the ecu out of your other car.

if you have a probe light you can check if the injectors are actually pulsing which would tell you the wiring is fine and the injectors themselves are at fault, google search injector testing with probe light.

Thanks. No i haven't touched the injectors to mess them up.
I'll try the ECU from my 95 in my 97 if someone can tell me i wont do more damage. (it's the 97 that wont start).
I managed to get it to try and start (cough and fart) by letting the fuel pump prime about 5 times but this only worked once.
They are both JDM and WRX's
I'll watch the vid a couple of times to get my head round it (thanks).
I removed every block connection under the bonnet and cleaned them so i'm sure they're good.
Will report back after testing.
Thanks guys
