wrx starting problems

Default wrx starting problems

Iv been having problems for a while u can turn the key like 10 times and nothing just fuel pumpwont even turn over other times it will fire 1st turn it seems to be getting worse, a while back I got a code up for crank sensor but just cleared it not thinking and its never returned could this be tge problem.

Replacing the crank sensor would be a start if it threw that code.

Sounds like a fuel pump problem. I would replace that first (if its starting to fail) but also check your fuel line and fuel filter. Once you get the fuel pump working you can see if you got a nice flow through the fuel line by collecting the fuel that comes out of the line in a bottle.

Sometimes wen trying to start it the starter clicks like its jsmmed then just fires into life

Sounds like a dodgy solenoid on the starter to me

I was thinking that, how do i check that and replace plus i have a sigma alarm or imobiliser sometimes wen it fails to turn over if i press the fob once it sometimes starts

Could be immobiliser problem that it's not putting power to the starter take the starter out earth the body of the starter and put a positive onto the terminals at the back of the solenoid and see if it flicks out the starter gear and if it does its not a problem with the starter

Other thing to try is get a multi meter earth the negative and put the positive on the back of the solenoid and get someone to try and turn it over and see what voltage you are getting there

Iv stuck a new starter on the car but it still doing the same dont get me wrong it does turn over alot better but still sometimes i get nothing
