Nearly Killed myself!
65lb/ft isn't seriously the correct torque for wheel nuts on 2005 wrx? I used that setting yesterday and then couldn't understand what the awful crunching grinding sound was that developed over my journey last night! Started to try and diagnose it this morning and found the nuts were all a thread away from falling off!!

Thas sound about right, i do mine to 73.5/75ft torque... my markings are for ft torque start at odd digits ie 73.5, so i give it extra 2 points hence 75.
I go around in star shape and after about 20 miles i retorque to make sure all is pucker, and once again after further 20 miles normally good indicator when torque wrench doesnt actually tighten anything... so its all good

That's around what ive now whacked mine up to. I just searched on here, and found multiple posts stating 65lb over and over. I thought it sounded low but people even say its stated in the hand book!
I always follow the same procedure as well.
Funnily enough, this i why i thought 65 was low, as my old car had ally nuts, and even those i set at 75!
Well, at least i didnt die. And hopefully anyone in the future will find this post and ignore the people stating 65 bloody pounds!

The correct torque is 90Nm as per hand book and the factory manual, however this is for the steel nuts as originally fitted. I have no idea what the torque is for the alloy nuts.
