Default All the signs to coolant temp sensor faulty......but not quite?

Hi folks.
Need some advice here please.
The car struggles starting from cold and fan is constantly on and on computer showing high temp reading, even after warm and I switch engine off, still struggles to start.
But once started is fine.
Now I've replaced coolant temperature sensor with genuine part.
Took battery + off and removed alternator and fitted, put back together and still no difference.

Any advice where else to try? Or does battery need to be disconnected over night etc, as from disconnecting battery and connecting again was probably just under 1hr.

Car is a my99 with v7 block on a syvecs ecu.

Thanks in advance.

Me thinks it might be a syvecs problem as you seem to have done what i would have done firstly and you did change the coolant temp sensor and not the temp sender to the gauge.

Yup, two senders. The one for the gauge is near the front of the engine, the one for the ecu at the rear.

You sure it's not the early classics that's at the rear near turbo?
Mine I belive is at the front behind alternator bolted into crossover pipe.
Unless both sensors your referring to are exactly same, 3 pin and fitted like for like?

Maybe who knows, it is currently on base map while we sort some things out, maybe there's a setting somewhere, as syvecs is loaded with all sorts of hobbledigobbly stuff

You sure? V5 onwards here. How can 2 plugs be identical for different parts?

I've found a picture during my build and maker a circle round where/what I've replaced.
I've fitted it here,

With this sensor, notice it's a 3 wire and not a 2 wire which is v1-v4.

Yes, this has gone in crossover pipe at front behind alternator v5 car with newage lump.
Version 5 onwards should have a grey 3 pin coolant temp sensor which also incorporates the temp gauge sensor.

Prior to the V5, they use a brown coolant temp sensor with a seperate single pin temp gauge sensor.

Does sound like a mapping issue to me

Thank you merlin, I thought I was going mad with all these posters telling me it's at rear.

Mine has no sensors on back of crossover pipe. Notice they are blanked

V5 onwards are at the front and as you say do both hence why they are £40 instead of £15 for a 2 wire one.

So that to me says something to sort in map ecu settings.

No mate, after new year get back on it, clutch needs to come back out so will assess then, guessing it's a map issue but find out later.

It was me not plugging the loom into the ecu pins correctly, unplugged and plugged back in correctly looool.
The pins must not have been all touching. Waste of a CTS for my stupidity.

Just having slightly opposite symptoms, SOMETIMES after my cars warm if I go into the store and come back out try to start, it barely starts with horrible bucking. Also showing code for 02 sensor bank 1 and running to lean bank 1. I swapped the o2 ($170) cleared the codes and It came back on sometime later. Someone referred this temp sensor, I’m driving a 03 Impreza outback sport with an 02 engine.
