Default turbo refurb

Is it worth getting my turbo refurbished or just save for a new one? Ive been told its a td05 but there arent any markings on it. And im starting to believe it may not be due to the other modifications and boost pressure only bringing 290bhp out on the rollers.

If its a td05 but unmarked it might be a jap one off ebay which are known for not putting out like a genuine td05 so prob worth getting a new turbo from a reliable source instead

Max'd out, a genuine OEM TD05H 16g puts out south of 350bhp - typically the 330-350 type bracket.

Here's what I've gleaned - see below:

https://www.scoobynet.com/drivetrain...td05h-16g.html

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ge...ih=979#imgrc=_

So, it appears the OEM 16g ones have a concentrically curved flat area cast into the compressor cover, on which is embossed the info -- the important info being "49178-XXXXX" and obviously the "TD05H"...(???)

I googled the markings when i first bought the car, but there is absolutely nothing on the cold side casing. No stamps, no plates, no casting marks nothing at all.

I'd be inclined to believe it's an aftermarket job, then(?)
