I have the following info from the id plate (comp. side) of a turbo, but don't have the turbo in front of me to look at or describe in detail:

49178-06200
TD05H

How would one positively and unmistakenly identify a TD05H-16G if it was from an unknown car and year, but probably a U.K. Impreza?

Is the above number enough?
The Subaru specific downpipe flange alone or in combination with the TD05H indication?
The 90 degree compressor inlet alone or in combination with the TD05H indication?
Something else? If so, what?

I have seen a picture of a TD05H-16G. I can request that the seller send me a picture of the turbo he is selling, but he may not be willing/able to do so.

Helpful suggestions will be appreciated.

should have the TD05 markings, plus the Subaru specific downpipe flange, also unless it's already been converted, it should have the 90' inlet bend.

If you do buy one, get the water pipes with it as they have larger fittings on the TD05 compared to the TD04

Paul,

Thanks for the reply.

Looking at the pictures you posted on NASIOC/i-Club, I see two metal lines coming off the center section, connected on the same side as the compressor outlet points. Which lines are these?

Shouldn't there be two other connections or lines (i.e. oil and water, supply and return lines)?

I am also a bit unclear on the location of the banjo bolts.

Cheers!

Those two line you saw are the water ones, the oil inlet is a small banjo, the oil outlet is a smallish (5/8") pipe with flange bolted on the underside, both oil fittings from td04 will fit.

Might want to have a look there too, for more TD05 ids :
http://www.turbomaster.com/catalogo_...i&pagina=TDO5H
I'm wondering if there is no typo somewhere in this link :
http://www.turboshoet.nl/turbos.php3...REZA&merkID=28
Because every TD05 seems to have a serial beginning with 49178...
49377 would be more TD04-like, as seen there : http://www.turbomaster.com/catalogo_...hi&pagina=TDO4

In any case, I bought one TD05H for a GT96 and it was marked 49178-06310 and 14412AA092
