Default P1 #795 Engine help

Hey

i have owned #795 since 2008

May 2009 i had a company rebuild the engine from one of these sites

The engine was put in at 92100 miles and its now sitting at 104650
so i've done around 12500 miles in the 6 years.

Today i've noticed a rattle from the engine, round about 2000 revs particularly when starting to accelerate or lifting off the pedal

sounds very much to me like the bottom end knocking but i'm not sure

my questions are, is there an easy way to tell if its the bottom end knocking?

and finally, if it is the bottom end, would i still be covered under an engine guarantee even if it was 6 years ago?

the engine was fully run in as directed by the engine builder and the oil has been changed every 6 months regardless of the mileage ive done

surely there will be a minium mileage clause in a warranty with this engine?

any advice welcome

thanks

Allan

Default warranty

after 6 years you would have no chance at all of any claim.

why not?

all the miles are proven, and surely the builder could tell if the engine has been mis-treated by looking at it when its in bits?

usually it would come with a mileage guarantee

i could buy a 2nd hand engine from a scrap yard with a 10k mile guarantee never mind a fully forged one

6 years is along time , why don't you just phone and ask the engine builder and give them a good laugh rather than asking silly questions on here!

You obviously never read the part where said I had only done 12.5k miles on this engine.

On a standard set up with standard turbo etc running standard boost...

Regardless of how long it was ago, and considering the oils etc were changed as its been run regularly this shouldn't have happened in my opinion

Subaru themselves or most manufacturers don't offer a 6 year warranty on new cars, mileage is low but if its had short not up to temp runs wear especially bottom end will be high, & as you have stated its had 12 oil changes in 12500 miles, that's a lot of seconds running with no oil pressure even if the oil filter is pre filled etc.

Idling an engine to get temp in it takes a long time, & would not get oil up to temp at all, sounds like it suffers from oil contamination also, no wonder you have issues.
