So frigging loud!
I have a 53 blob sti that drones so loud it's just not worth driving
It's had a 3" toyosport on then a 3" milltek now a 3" cobra track day everything is tight and leak free it's got quieter with each exhaust when you give it the beans but seems of droned even more under normal use anyone got any ideas?
Cheers

Just get an exhaust place to weld an intermediate silencer in , possibly around the 100£ area , make sure exhaust tip finishes after bumper and not before , I did not look where you are but Top Gear / Emp in Stalbans herts are good

I had the same issue with mine. It was too loud and not what I was looking for at all.
I spoke to Kev at SCR who recommended the below kit. Its nice and quite and when you give it some beans opens up the burble.

Have a look at my build thread and you can see it fitted ect.

It sounded lovely for a week then got louder and droned like mad finished up setting car 2 alarms off next door when I fired it up cobra is near enough the same and getting louder its mounted on the milltek large bore downpipe and even that has a resonator so I'm wondering if that could be at fault?

Had similar Issues full 3" + decat + twin scroll = drone. Being twin scroll I wanted to try keep the sound deep without any scaffold pole type roar so I had a custom 4"x16" resonator ( internally 3") fitted to the mid section, however the fujisubo back box wasn't right, tried a few back boxes ironically ended up with a hks super dragger originally from a classic reworked to fit my Hawkeye. Sometimes custom work is better ( oh and agree with above some of the so called big name down pipes have poor welds) which is made worse when heat wrapping them as said cant beat a few custom welds.

I've got a Miltek 3'' decat resonated turbo back, found it quite intrusive on the motorway.
I had a extra resonator added to the centre pipe and it didn't make much difference, although it did make the exhaust note deeper it didn't reduce the drone.
What I found to be very effective was to remove the rear seats and boot flooring and add 3 layers of sound proofing.
First I added dynamat to all the metal panels to reduce resonance. This included under the seats boot floor and inner rear quarter panels inside boot area.
The I added a thin layer of sound insulating foam covering the whole boot floor down to the rear foot well.
Then on top of the foam I added a 2mm layer of mineral loaded acoustic mat.
After cutting the odd hole for the seat belt buckles and mounting bolts, I reinstalled the seats and boot carpet,
You would never know it was there but the drone is massively reduced, can't even here the exhaust at 70 mph in 6th.
You could take this even further and get some self adhesive acoustic foam with a mass loaded mat built in to add to the rear quarters and inner boot lid.

Believe it or not I've also tried this using a very expensive sound insulating underlay I've used at work and it made a little better in town but on the motorway it seemed to reflect exhaust and the road noise almost like a bass enclosure and the insulation in the rear quarters made the car steam up really bad so the Ac had to be on all the time and the extra load made it worse!
Purpose made car sound deadening won't hold moisture.
The correct way of stopping the noise is to first stop the panels resonating, and acting like a drum by using dynamat.
Then you need to add mass loaded sound deadening mat this has the same sound stopping qualities as lead!
But for it to be effective it needs to be insulated from the bodywork,
This is why you need a thin layer of closed cell acoustic vehicle foam.
Non of these materials will absorb water or dampness, unlike porous carpet underlay.

in your first post you didnt say if it was full decat or sports cat`d, mine has a sports cat, centre res box and Scorpion BB, I have no drone and subtle deep tone when tootling around, but on WOT it just sounds like a Jet fighter, no issues on the motorway,
You really need to attend a few meetings and get people to take you for a drive with different exhaust combinations to find one you, like rather then word of mouth.
