Hey, I bought a walbro fuel pump over a year back before mapping, cars been running 270bhp for the same amount of time, now I'm upgrading to the vf35 turbo and I've heard stories of 'fake walbro pumps' is there anyway you can spot a fake while its on the car? As in the sound it makes while priming ect? Just it was bought of ebay
not really. if its been in for a while and working then dont worry abotu it.
the mapper (as long as they are a decent mapper) will be bale to tell if the fuel pump is giving up the ghost
Guess ill find out soon enough. I done a search and it came up on another forum, some guy describing there's, sounds similar to mine, came in a sytec box has walbro ingraved on the pump and made in usa. Any how turned out to be fine so fingers crossed.
So people, dont worry that because your walbro comes in a sytec box its fake thats normal.
Thats the good news bit
bad news bit........... the Fake Walbro pumps also come in an sytec box as well which is a perfect copy as it the pump to look at, its just the insides which are garbage.
Side by side you normally wont tell on the good copies. But when mapping and adjusting fuel trim then a good mapper will see a fake
