steering coloum bulkhead

Default steering coloum bulkhead

hi i got a problem with steering coloum were it goes through bulkhead/firewall.
its just pi--ing in the wind as it goes through,is bolted steering wheel end. there a white looks nylon bush or similar at end of coloum before it goes through bulkhead should that be fixed to the car.
car 2000sti jdm. with adjustable coloum .

Got this on my classic too. Got no reply to my question so sort of figured out there should be a large grommet type ring with grooves around its outer edge to fit into the hole and hold the plastic or nylon bush in place. Tried contacting a Subaru dealer and he didnt even know what the bulkhead was, never mind locate the replacement rubber seal

yeah bit shifty at speed. had look at mine seems i have a rubber grommet that it sits in other owner must of removed it and couldnt fit back .had a quick go bit of a b--ch have to lube it up ha ha, that be tomorrows adventurer now. i get back with any results

Its not fixed at that point there should be a rubber bung that it sits in where it goes through the bulkhead on the classics there are 2 different size holes in the bulkhead between the early RA prefacelift and the later classics cant remember off the top of my head which way round it was tho.

May have to remove the column , lube the grommet and gently guide it back intoo place

thanks had look and bung there manged to push it back in seems to be ok .

did undo column didnt realy help for me,yeah lubed up and used a chunky screwdriver to push the white bush thing into the rubber bung.
