Default Welding a highflown cat into a decade downpipe

Has anyone here had any success welding in a highflow CAT http://goo.gl/SO1jSd into a decat pipe? Seems like it'd be far cheaper to buy a decent decat downpipe and then weld in an aftermarket CAT. I don't want to keep swapping out the downpipe for MOT's

Did the classic STi downpipe fit OK on the Newage? I thought the classics were a little shorter?

it would be for less than one day a year, easily swapped and definate pass rather than some sports cats that need a good roasting.
