Default Classic dial face problem

Ok so here's the problem.

I was half way through changing the dial faces on the 96 impreza and had a call out. My brother while I was away thought he would help. He said he followed the lockwood instructions but now I've gone to drive it there are problems. ...

The speedo is clearly wrong, says I'm doing 40mph when I must be closer to 10mph, fuel guage pin snapped so won't have a fuel reading and the tachometer doesn't read anything.

I can't be annoyed he was only trying to help but assuming he just pulled the pointer off without marking where it was.

Any help desperately needed.

I thought that was the case. Trying all scrapies but will be posting on here too. What dial faces would you advise? The white lockwood seems decent enough :s

I didn't think so. It's exact replacement with change of colour. What would you say is any better??

Have ordered new clock so will notify dvla of change but can anyone give me a better step by step of dial install / needle removal.
Brother insists he followed the guide but I really don't wanna end up buying another bloody clock

It's OK for Lockwood to say "Remove the needle" etc, but the clock makers don't want the needle to come off!

You may strike lucky, but if it were me I'd keep what I have.

Kinda wish I hadn't bothered now. I realise the manufactures didn't want them off but people have done it and I have them now so would prefer to use the white faces.

When I've removed my needles on my old WRX I used 2 teaspoons, put the spoon part inbetween the dial and the needle and gently pushed down on the spoon handles and they came off with no problem.

The only reason I was fiddling with these is I was trying to repair the mileometer not stick aftermarket dials.

The needles are set on the pins very carefully at a specific depth. If you lever them off you will almost certainly never get them right again. You can get close and you can get lucky, but usually even if you get them to read correct they don't move smoothly. Do not remove them.

Trust me I have played with about 5 sets of clocks.

I have a new set of of clocks offered at a bargain price but the readout on the face is 110mph max not 160mph. While I realise the clocks are different the speedo is sent signals by electric but would the gearing in the mechanism be wrong and give an incorrect reading if I was to get this clock.

Are they from a Sport?

You cannot easily use an electronic speedo in yours, your car's speedo is cable driven.
