Default Hybrid TD04 and catless up pipe questions

Hi, I`m about to get back a td04 from C and R turbos with a drop in billet and 360 thrust bearings, and then it`s going on my SL 05 wagon; whilst I`m at it, the up pipe will be swapped for an sti one.
Firstly, can anything else be done to improve the turbo ? I`ll be adding supporting mods one by one, injectors, tmic etc. Is it worth porting anything ?
Secondly, in changing the up pipe, what needs to be done to stop the cel coming on ? If I buy a custom trick up pipe instead of an sti one, can this be avoided?
Any other jobs worth doing whilst it is all off?
Many thanks

Mapper will be able to sort out the CEL for the EGT probe.

When i put an STI up pipe in my 05 WRX the CEL light came on and stayed on until my mapper when in and switched it off.

What power are you hoping to get from this new TD04?

Thanks. Realistically, 300 would be good; I`m at 279 at the moment with sports cat, panel and remap. I would hope for a little more with a sti tmic, maybe, but am going to take it a step at a time. How did you find the change with the sti up pipe ? I`m just after back road daily drivability, really. I was going to get the existing injectors cleaned as well.

if you can get the headers ported you'll see a little gain as well - standard headers take the treatment very well from what i've read.

You can also knock out the EGT cel with a resistor if you need a temporary fix to drive on:

But if your getting it mapped then never worry about it and as said the mapper will wipe out all the codes anyway.

I'm on 279BHP 301lb-ft with fuel pump, full decat, plugs, panel filter, remap. This is on my 05 WRX SL PPP Wagon.

I did all this in one go so its hard to tell what the up pipe did. All I know is that the above transformed the car the pull from low rpm is awesome. It's on a par with my classic STI I had. I just wish it had more top end......

I'd be interested to know what your turbo cost as I think that's the next step for me with 550 injectors.

The turbo was just under £ 350 plus vat, turbo supplied. I got it off ebay damaged, so it had a little housing wear. I was told the Hawk td04`s make better figures, but I couldn't afford to pay much for the donor turbo

That's really interesting, thanks for the info. I'll be interested to see what figures you get from it.
