Head Gakset?
Hey guys, recently picked up a Hawkeye 2006 2.5 wrx. been running fine until a few weeks back it overheated and had water coming out from the tank next to radiator (Overflow tank?) it only happened the once so didn't worry too much. read on here a few days back about running the car up to temp the cap off the header tank and this is where I've noticed all this foaming happening. it certainly doesn't look normal an I could only assume the worse but just want confirmation please! also if this is the case, im not far from Norwich and would also need advise on anyone specialize on Subaru's for the job! Cheers

Just some extra info, I'm building loads of 2.5's at the moment, what I tend to see is headgasket problems that I belive are caused by the infamous ringland issues, i.e. the pistons start to pass a small amount of oil which can't be compressed. this then lifts the heads and you get the headgasket issues. So the diagnosis is headgasket problems but the cause is ringland issues. Have a look at the plugs and se if 1 or more are a bit oily, and is it using a any oil?
hhmmm just called clive atthow and apt norwich and niether companys can help
I would take it to my local garage but would rather pay the extra to take to a specialist, or am I just as good to take to a local garage? All I'm really looking for is a guide price for either the headgasket to be replaced or even uprated parts (pistons ect) .... whatever is advisable really?

headgasket is full rebuild, will more then likley pinched the crank bearings.
not sure whos down your way as far as decent specialists.
any garage should be able to do a simple sniff test though

Looks to me like someone has put screen wash in it by mistake. I'd flush it out with a hose pipe and refill with just water and run it for a couple of days getting it up to temp, before going down the rebuild route, that way you'll be able to see any oily deposits.

Yeah I would say so, I took the expansion bottle off the s8de of the rad and it doesn't smell like antifreeze.... more like a screen wash lol!! Think I'll head down the route of replacing the thermostat and also change the coolant, run it for a couple of weeks then sniff test for peace of mind
