Default Can you re-drill wheels safely?

As above really... I keep finding wheels that I like, but the wide widths and low offsets only seem to come in 5x114.3 and I am 5x100. Just wondering if it can be done safely by someone with the correct equipment of course, not just me at home with the black and decker haha. Also if it is possible and somebody has had it done before... rough price?

Have you considered the PCD adaptors?

I did look at those, but the problem is that they then add 20mm ish to the width... so would have to buy skinnier wheels.

Hmm true... so do you think the hub adaptors will be a better/safer/cheaper option than re-drilling the wheels?

To be honest, I've never heard of wheels being redrilled so can't comment on that.

Cheaper and easier I'd say so.

highly unlikely that the casting would be strong enough or even be shaped to allow it............

Not just hubs though is it, pretty major conversion for a set of wheels.

I doubt the insurance company would take too kindly to that either.

It used to happen on the vauxhall scene where people would get the holes elongated (professionally) by about 2mm to allow volvo wheels to fit their cars but 14mm would be too long for that method

Course you can redrill wheels, loads of jap wheel manufacturers offer dual fitting from factory so off course you can get a single fitment set redrilled along as the face has the space to do so

Yes you can redrill wheels.

Dependant on the design of the hub mounting face and existing pcd you may get away with a straight redrill which any decent machine shop can carry out. If not then its a plug and weld job. Not a problem to the right person but I've seen a lot of awful jobs from so called pros! G23 engineering are excellent but not cheap and have a decent waiting list.

What wheels is it you want to fit? Pcd, offset, size?

Cheers Ross.
