Default Engine will only run at 4000rpm plus !

Just spent a fortune 7k plus on my engine, and have been running in, driving along a dual carriageway engine starts missing and wont pull on the throttle, engine dies in the fast lane, just managed to coast to a stop on a minor jct. Engine will start but will not run below 4000rpm, and if i release the clutch slowly it just dies as soon as any load put on it.
First thing i thought was a boost pipe had come off or a vacuum pipe. Changed the airfow meter, TPS,CPS and temp sensor for gauge as well as ecu.
Running out of options ? any ideas, garage is stumped. Oh i forgot the fault code reader showed nothing!

Take it back to the builder and get their opinion.
Done a compression test?

No throttle cable, got one of those electrical throttles, but they checked that. 2006 car.
Good idea about the butterfly will get that checked.
Yes it is back with the garage that built it, but compressions are good. It really does have all the symptoms of an air leak some where.

Try the inlet manifold to head bolts, if its had new gaskets or especially if thermal spacers are fitted its not uncommon for them to settle & come loose after being disturbed.

Ok good idea, will let the garage know. They are coming down on the idea it might be ecu related, it is standard looking from the outside but might have that ecutech? software added, but how can i tell? It is about a 480bhp car, does that mean it must have that software so they can link to a pc.?

If you have spent that amount on a rebuild I would presume the people who built it know there stuff. No? So why are you asking on here for advice to pass on to them. That don't sound right to me.

I see your point, Its with Jap Performance Parts in Crawley, they do loads of Evos and Scoobys but they use an out of house engine builder who they trust, and the problem is not mechanical as far as they can tell. And to be honest i dont know of anyone better round these parts. They only have 2 more checks to do before bringing in a mapper guy. Camshaft sensors and a vacuum test where they fill the engine with smoke and see if any leaks out. Also it could be an intermittent fault which has effected the ecu?
