It looks like the only sports cat on the scoobyworld website that fits a hawk is the Milltek and thats part of a whole system.

The link you used was for the bugs/ blobs.

I think all newage Imprezas have the turbo back same dimensions, so, so long as it replaces the downpipe and second cat, which the image suggests it does, it should fit.

Personally I would confirm with SN.

Have you considered a secondhand Prodrive cat? They're good quality for passing MOT, although one may be £50 more or so.

Problem with the Prodrive option is its 400 quid for a second hand cat. I'd much rather have a new one for piece of mind.

And Jack, that's what made me wonder. Strikes me as odd that they'd only have one sports cat for the hawk.

You could do some research in to the quality of the different sports cats, to ensure that you're not having to replace it in a couple of years due to an MOT fail. Speak to a couple of Subaru specialists, or maybe some on this forum can answer?

The ninja sports cat i had was almost impossible to get hot enough to pass an MOT, so I'd definitely go with a PPP if you still have the choice.

My prodrive cat was 70 quid - I think you're looking in the wrong places.

My Prodrive cat is about 8 years old and has just passed an MOT with no heat wrap or warming up. Touch wood, it'll see me a few more too.

Yep, the ppp cats are brilliant pieces of kit. I've had two of them too

Does anyone know what the cell count is on a Prodrive cat?

i seem to recall it's 300cps, however don't get too hung up about this, as the PPP version is well proven to work up until close to 400bhp at least.

If you compare various sports cats, you'll see that the PPP cat has a larger diameter than most of them. This means that the surface area of the cat element is larger, which offsets the higher cell count to a large degree.

E.g. if you had a 100cps cat that was 10cm in diameter, vs a 300cps cat with 13cm diameter, you'd end up having:

100cps: 78.5cm2 surface area
300cps: 133cm2 surface area

I.e. the 13cm diameter cat element would have 1.7 times the area of the 100cps one, so the higher cell count would be greatly offset (the actual measurements of diameter may be off, btw, as I don't know the element diameter of the PPP vs the ninja, but the general principle still stands, I believe).

Makes sense that it's the actual cell density that governs the gas flow, rather than the cell count. As you say, if the pipe diameter is the same then less cells is better as each cell is bigger but if the piper diameter changes then it gets a little more complicated.

As the others have said the Prodrive cat works really well and is relatively cheap now. You should be able to pick one up for less than £100. I've got an Afterburner decat and 2nd cat delete if you change your mind and go decat. I'm in Tilehurst if you want to come and have a look at it.

I thought the link may have been deliberate .

They seem to be hard to come by had a quick trawl of the breakers on here and on ebay and i've only found one (which appears to be a bit over the odds at £200).

Jack, i had debated going for a full decat but i'm not sure i fancy the added hassle come MOT time. Although seeing you're local i have to ask, what did you do with yours when you had the decat on?

Jesus that is expensive, people couldn't sell them last year at £100. I wish I'd bought them all now . I know one of the local lads was trying to get rid of 1, not sure if he ever sold it. I'll drop him a message and find out.

It's not too much of a problem tbh, I can pm you if you like.
