Hi all,

I got a mechanic to carry out a hawk to bug centre console conversion.

Which on the whole went quite smoothly.

But now the Cigerette lighter and hand brake doesn't work. The mechanic said the lighter had rust on the sides, so must have got water on it when at the breakers, which is why it's not work working anymore? What do you guys reckon?

He said the handbrake cable on the hawk handbrake is too long. He wanted to try putting the bug handbrake back, but I asked him to leave as is, because I've heard the bug handbrake won't fit.

Any ideas on a fix for both?

Perhaps the fuse has gone

you have to use the later handbrake but with the old cable if im not mistaken

I pressume you mean bug to hawk conversion. The hawk handbrake is different so will need to fit that.

Thanks guys, I'll try the fuse for the cigerette lighter and bending the handbrake bar to swap handbrake cables next weekend.

If you paid someone, surely it's up to them to fix, get them to fit bug cable to hawk hand brake, and if the lighter is broke swap in your old one
