Default 1995 wrx block into a 2003 wrx

Hello all as above will a 1995 wrx block be a suitable replacement for a 2003 wrx block?

I know the actual blocks halves are the same but i was enquiring more in terms of pistons and cr ratios etc.

Basically ive got a 2003 blob wrx with a scrap engine and have the oppurtunity of a good 1995 engine to replace it with, im going to transfer everything off the 2003 lump on to it including heads etc with appropriate size gaskets but want to make sure its going to run as it should.

Will this be ok or shall i source a newer lump?

Also if fitting this 95 will be ok does anyone know what thickness head gaskets i should be using?

Thanks

Sure it would be easier to source a new age lump tbh

Pretty sure they are interchangeable

It's the heads that aren't

I'd speak to an engine builder personally about head gaskets as that would determine your compression ratio

Also is the block your buying rear thrust converted?

Cheers mate, im hoping an engine builder will see this and post up, if not ill give simon at api a ring i know he'll be able to tell me.

The blocks from a 1995 so id assume its center thrust, but that said i havent had the sump off yet to inspect the big ends so i cant be certain.
